NEW YORK — Jamie Stern Furniture, Carpet, Leather & Fabric has initiated the submission period for its third annual Furniture Design Competition, inviting professional interior designers across the United States and Canada to conceptualize innovative lounge chair designs. Selected entries may be prototyped, with submissions accepted until April 27.
Eligible participants are encouraged to submit CAD drawings, 3D renderings, or hand-drawn sketches accompanied by dimensional specifications and a written design rationale. A distinguished panel of jurors—Silvia Castañeda (Rockwell Group), Patricia Lopez (Baskerville), and Sara Talleux (KTGY Chicago)—will evaluate submissions and select two grand prize recipients. Winners will receive a fully upholstered prototype of their design, with the possibility of commercial production.
Reflecting on the competition’s growth, founder Jamie Stern remarked, “Now in its third iteration, this initiative has showcased exceptional creativity from both seasoned and emerging designers, underscoring the dynamic talent within the industry. We are proud to support innovative design and eagerly anticipate this year’s reinterpretations of the lounge chair concept.”
Celebrating four decades in operation, the company emphasizes collaborative partnerships with designers through custom projects and in-house product development. This competition aligns with its mission to cultivate originality and advance contemporary furniture design.
