Houston-based Bel Furniture is reporting notable success from a new pillow merchandising strategy developed in partnership with Spring Air, demonstrating how sleep accessories can play a larger role in driving mattress sales.
The 14-store retailer has integrated Spring Air’s Sleep Copper pillow collection into its mattress departments, positioning the pillows alongside the brand’s Sleep Copper mattress lineup. According to Spring Air, the collection achieved more than 5,000 unit sales within the first two months of its retail launch, highlighting strong consumer interest in coordinated sleep solutions.
Bel Furniture currently offers two pillow models from the Sleep Copper range, with pricing beginning at $249. The products are designed to complement the technology and wellness benefits featured in the corresponding mattress collection, creating a natural upselling opportunity for shoppers.
Troy Simmons, Bel Furniture’s general manager of operations, said the coordinated approach has delivered strong results. By pairing pillows with mattress technologies, customers are more inclined to consider complete sleep systems rather than individual products, helping boost overall transaction values.
The Sleep Copper collection includes a Copper Freeze memory foam pillow engineered specifically for side sleepers. Its ergonomic shoulder cutout is intended to promote proper neck and shoulder positioning during sleep. A second model, featuring a standard loft profile, caters to both side and back sleepers. Both versions incorporate ventilated latex components and copper-infused materials designed to enhance airflow and assist with temperature management throughout the night.

In addition to the Sleep Copper offerings, Bel Furniture also carries Spring Air’s Back Supporter Surround ventilated latex pillow, which retails for $199.
Spring Air developed the pillow program to serve two purposes: increasing attachment sales for mattress retailers and creating an independent sleep products category capable of attracting consumers who may not currently be shopping for a new mattress.
Nick Bates, president and CEO of Spring Air, said the company is encouraged by the program’s early momentum, particularly as retailers seek new ways to generate sales in a market where shoppers may be delaying larger purchases.
Bates noted that products emphasizing cooling performance, wellness benefits, and sleep health are resonating strongly with consumers. Features such as temperature-regulating materials, antimicrobial properties, and visually distinctive product designs also provide retail sales associates with additional talking points that help engage customers on the showroom floor.
The pillow collection expands on the broader Sleep Copper mattress portfolio, which centers on wellness-focused sleep technologies and advanced temperature-control features designed to improve sleep quality and comfort.
