HOUSTON — Pillows are proving to be more than an accessory sale at Bel Furniture, a 14-store retailer based in Houston. The company is seeing strong results with Spring Air’s Sleep Copper pillow collection, a program that has generated more than 5,000 unit sales during its first 60 days at retail.
Bel Furniture carries two models from the collection in its mattress departments, merchandising them alongside Spring Air’s Sleep Copper mattress line. Retail prices start at $249.
Troy Simmons, General Manager of Operations at Bel Furniture, described the pillows as a game-changer, noting that pillows matching mattress technology make for an instant add-on. He added that the pillows are the perfect complement to the retailer’s Copper collection by Spring Air.
The pillow lineup includes the Copper Freeze memory foam pillow, designed for side sleepers with a shoulder cutout for proper neck and shoulder alignment, and a standard-loft version for back and side sleepers. Both feature ventilated latex cores and copper-infused materials to improve airflow and temperature regulation. Bel also carries Spring Air’s Back Supporter Surround ventilated latex pillow at $199.
Spring Air noted that the pillow program was developed both as an attachment opportunity for mattress retailers and as a stand-alone sleep products category capable of attracting shoppers not actively seeking a new mattress.
Nick Bates, President and CEO of Spring Air, expressed encouragement over the program’s early results, especially as retailers look for ways to drive sales beyond major purchases. He explained that as summer approaches, engaging consumers—including those hesitant about big-ticket items—becomes key. Bates added that the hotter the weather, the more attractive the Copper line’s temperature regulation story becomes. With eye-catching covers and anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, the pillows give retail sales associates more to discuss. Given the program’s early success, Bates observed that consumers are more interested in health and wellness than ever before.
The pillow line builds on Spring Air’s Sleep Copper mattress collection, which focuses on health, wellness, and temperature-regulating sleep technologies.
