Just had a hip replacement and my living room couch is calling… anyone know when can I sit on sofa after hip replacement without messing things up?
Approximately 6–12 weeks after hip replacement surgery, most people can begin sitting on a sofa, but the following points are recommended:
- Avoid excessive hip flexion beyond 90°.
- Avoid sitting on low, soft, or sunken sofas, recliners, or zero-gravity chairs.
- Choose a sturdy chair with armrests and an appropriate height.
- Ensure your hips are higher than your knees when sitting.
- Avoid maintaining the same posture for extended periods; it is recommended to move around every 30–45 minutes.
