Is There A Way To Manually Raise A Standing Desk?

Just moved into a new apartment and my standing desk feels way too low even at its highest setting—before I start taking it apart, is there a way to manually raise a standing desk if the electric lift stops working or doesn’t go high enough?

Yes, some standing desks can be manually raised in case of a power failure or motor issue, but it depends on the frame design.

Most electric standing desks (single or dual motor) do not support true manual lifting; only models with a hand crank or mechanical linkage allow manual height adjustment.

Otherwise, they rely entirely on the motor or require partial disassembly to change height.

Gas-lift standing desks are the most likely to offer smooth manual adjustment compared to standard electric frames.
