I'm planning to move to a new office space soon, but my desk is too large and very difficult to move. Are there any ways to easily disassemble the office desk?
Before disassembling the office desk, you will need to prepare the following tools: a screwdriver (flathead or Phillips head), an Allen wrench, resealable bags, a marker pen, and a hammer.
Now, please follow the disassembly steps below!
- Clear everything from your desk: All items on the desk and in the drawers (such as office supplies, documents, and electronic devices) need to be removed and placed in storage boxes for centralized storage.
- Remove drawers and accessories: Pull out all drawers and remove all trays or dividers. Some drawers have safety latches or locks; you will need to press or lift them to remove the drawers.
- Disassemble the desktop: Before officially disassembling the desk, take clear photos of the desk from multiple angles with your phone. This will be very helpful when reassembling it later. Now, check the underside of the desk to find the screws, bolts, or cam locks that secure the desktop to the frame. Use the appropriate tools to loosen these fasteners. After removing all fasteners, gently lift the desktop off the frame.
- Separate the desk frame: If possible, turn the desk upside down. Use a screwdriver or wrench to unscrew the legs and side panels.
- Organize screws and other parts: After disassembling the desk, sort the screws, bolts, and other small parts into different sealed bags and label them with a marker.
A helpful tip from Meet&Co: When disassembling a built-in desk, check for any sealant or screws securing it to the wall, and carefully remove them using a knife or screwdriver.
