SOMERSET, N.J. — With November 5 marking National Stress Awareness Day, Norwegian furniture maker Stressless has unveiled a new recliner crafted to enhance relaxation.
Now available across North America, the Stressless Adam recliner serves as an in-home way for people to recharge, according to the company. Touted as the “peak of ergonomic comfort,” this piece creates a “go-to spot” for unwinding. It aligns with Stressless’ research showing people often seek out a specific area in their homes to “clear their mental and emotional minds,” the brand noted.

Notably, the Adam recliner is Stressless’s first product to feature zero-gravity seating. This design draws on NASA research, which found that in a weightless setting, the body naturally rests in a relaxed, neutral state—putting little strain on muscles and joints.
The recliner’s motorized mechanism lets the seat recline farther than any other Stressless model, lifting the user’s legs to a horizontal position above heart level, officials explained.
Beverly Kastel, Stressless’ North America marketing director, commented: “It’s well-known that Americans are dealing with widespread stress, facing anxiety in nearly every part of life. It’s great to see that a simple item like a favorite chair—such as our new Adam recliner—can help ease this stress.”
