COPENHAGEN — ScanCom International A/S has announced it is ceasing operations, citing prolonged market challenges following the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement released on the company’s website, officials explained that the outdoor furniture manufacturer faced a drastically shifting market after the pandemic. They noted that despite efforts over the past two years to execute a turnaround following years of declining turnover and cost pressures, the challenges ultimately proved too great to overcome.
The company, which has produced and traded outdoor furniture for the B2B industry for more than three decades, said its focus has now shifted toward a controlled and orderly shutdown. Priorities include fulfilling existing customer orders and managing the discontinuation of operations in Vietnam and other locations.
Peter Andsager, Chairman of ScanCom International, emphasized the company’s commitment to treating its skilled employees with dignity during the transition. He stated that leadership is collaborating with authorities and unions to ensure a smooth process for workers in Vietnam and worldwide, while also upholding commitments to customers and partners.
Founded in Korsør, Denmark, in 1995, ScanCom expanded globally with manufacturing and commercial operations in Vietnam, Brazil, Indonesia, Germany, the UK, Spain, and other countries. In 2019, Lars Larsen Group A/S acquired full ownership of the company from founder Bøje Bendtzen. ScanCom, headquartered in Copenhagen, operated its own showroom in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
