BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Red Mountain Retail, a licensee of Ashley HomeStores in Alabama, recently partnered with the nonprofit Hope to Dream to provide new beds to 30 children from the Birmingham City Schools district during a special event at the McWane Science Center.
Selected by school counselors and teachers in partnership with United Way of Central Alabama, the students were surprised with the news that they would each receive a complete twin bed set, including a mattress, frame, bedding, and pillow. The after-hours museum event featured a special visit from Santa.
Woody Marks, owner of Red Mountain Retail, expressed that the Hope to Dream initiative is a favorite because it provides more than a donation—it delivers comfort, rest, and tangible hope to children in need.
Dr. Mark Sullivan, Superintendent of Birmingham City Schools, thanked the partners for their generosity, stating that a good night’s sleep is foundational for student focus, classroom engagement, and academic success. He added that the donation brings families both comfort and hope for the holiday season.
Established in 2010, Hope to Dream has provided new beds to over 190,000 children nationwide. The program is funded in part by donations from mattress sales at participating Ashley stores.
