PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Paints Co. has named Black Oak its 2026 Stain Color of the Year, a warm, versatile neutral with deep forest tones inspired by the natural aging process of wood.
Designed to bring warmth and depth to outdoor spaces, the color reflects a broader shift among homeowners toward timeless, dependable choices for projects that must withstand weather and daily wear.
Ashley McCollum, Color Marketing Manager at Pittsburgh Paints Co., explained that consumers are moving away from trend-driven quick fixes in favor of smarter, longer-lasting solutions. She stated that Black Oak offers confidence in color selection, durability in finish, and a look that remains appealing long after project completion.
McCollum added that the stain’s deep, neutral tone adapts effortlessly to various home styles—whether classic, modern, or transitional—making it a rare and versatile choice.
Black Oak complements the company’s previously announced 2026 Paint Color of the Year, Warm Mahogany (PPG1060-7), a rich, warm-toned red.
