BOSTON — Tommy MacDonald, the former host of Rough Cut: Woodworking with Tommy Mac on PBS from 2010 to 2016, is set to open his inaugural public showroom in Boston this month.
Nestled at 155 Federal Street in the city’s Financial District, the new space showcases MacDonald’s signature collection, including rockers, armchairs, kitchen stools, live-edge tables, beds, and more—all crafted by hand in his North End workshop using top-tier North American hardwoods. Nearly every piece on display will be available for purchase.

“As a Boston native, my work embodies the essence of this city—genuine, built to endure, and made for daily living,” MacDonald said. “This showroom is not just a place to shop, but a destination where visitors can explore distinctive pieces, meet the craftsmen behind them, and feel the pride of knowing everything is made right here in Massachusetts.”
With the rising demand for locally crafted, high-quality furniture, MacDonald saw an opportunity to establish a space where people can experience his creations firsthand, connect with the artisanship behind each item, and support Massachusetts-based creators. In addition to the Tommy Mac Collection, the showroom will feature works from other local artisans, celebrating the rich tradition of Massachusetts design.
The centerpiece of the showroom is the luxurious, arts-and-crafts-inspired rocker, named after MacDonald’s mother, Millie, in tribute to her love of rocking chairs. The chair features a sleek, tight back with a tailored cushion and piping, as well as sequentially matched boards, making each rocker uniquely distinct.
Crafted with traditional joinery techniques like through-mortise wedged tenons and bent-laminated rockers, the chair’s seat boasts a nine-spring, eight-tie foundation topped with a plush down cushion. Both are upholstered in eco-friendly, natural fabrics and leathers.
The grand opening will take place on Thursday, October 16, from 10 a.m. to noon.
