ATLANTA — Casual furniture supplier Life Outside is positioning its Pillar collection as a flexible option for outdoor dining displays. The collection combines sculptural tables with seating from several of the company’s chair lines, allowing retailers to present different dining looks around the same table design.
Pillar tables are made with powder-coated aluminum and sintered stone. The materials are designed to create the substantial appearance of concrete or masonry while avoiding the weight and handling requirements associated with those materials. Life Outside also says the construction makes the tables easier to ship and reposition on a showroom floor.
The collection includes round and oval dining tables as well as bar-height versions. A central pedestal base provides more legroom than a traditional four-leg design, while the tables’ simple form allows them to be paired with different seating styles.
Life Outside has demonstrated that flexibility through three chair combinations. The all-aluminum Bellmore chairs give Pillar a contemporary appearance. Sonoma chairs use woven outdoor rope and Sunbrella cushions for a softer look, while Concord chairs pair aluminum frames with resin wicker for a more traditional setting.
One Table, Multiple Display Options
The mix-and-match concept gives specialty dealers another way to present different dining styles without needing a separate table and inventory for every chair collection. A retailer can use one Pillar table with several seating options to show customers how the same table can be configured in different ways.
This approach also allows Pillar to be presented in contemporary, resort-inspired and traditional settings, depending on the seating selected.
The collection is also intended for homeowners and designers looking to create a closer visual relationship between indoor and outdoor areas. Life Outside designed Pillar to bring the appearance of an architectural indoor dining table to covered porches and open patios, while using materials suited to outdoor exposure.
For dealers, the collection offers several ways to use a single table display while presenting different dining configurations. The company’s approach centers on using Pillar as a common foundation for multiple seating combinations rather than creating a separate table display for each chair line.
