The Red Dot Awards recognize outstanding achievements in product design, evaluating entries on innovation, functionality, and visual form. This year’s recognition adds to King Living’s growing list of accolades, which already includes two Red Dot Awards and multiple Good Design Awards from 2024.
Founder David King expressed that the awards arrive during a pivotal phase of international expansion, underscoring how the brand’s design ethos continues to resonate globally.
Among the winning designs, the 1978 High Back sofa modernizes an original King Living piece. With modular components, swappable armrests, and easily removable fabric covers, it reflects the brand’s longstanding focus on adaptability and durability.
The King Cinema recliner features TouchGlide technology, allowing users to control the headrest and footrest with a touch. It also supports add-ons like lighting, speaker mounts, and wireless charging tables—aligning with the increasing demand for multifunctional living room seating.
Also awarded was the Haven sofa, a modular design that adjusts both backrest height and armrest angles through built-in flex mechanisms. It’s engineered for flexibility, accommodating various living spaces and evolving user needs.
“These designs reflect modern lifestyles,” said King, noting that modularity and customization are central to creating furniture that grows with its owner over time.
The Haven and 1978 High Back sofas will also be showcased at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany, which celebrates leading-edge design from around the world.
Founded in 1977 in Sydney, King Living now operates in several international markets, including Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and across Asia. All products are designed in-house and manufactured within the company’s own facilities.
Calling the triple win “a true honor,” King praised the in-house design team for their talent and commitment to producing furniture that blends longevity with visual appeal.
