RAMOS ARIZPE, Mexico — After years of operating as a major behind-the-scenes mattress manufacturer, Ikano Industry is introducing its first consumer-facing brand, Ikona, to the North American market.
The Sweden-based company, known as one of the largest mattress suppliers for IKEA, is using the new brand to expand beyond its long-standing supplier role and build relationships with retailers, hospitality companies and private-label partners throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
“We wanted to create a brand that represents our own capabilities and product expertise,” said Silvia Galasso, chief sales and marketing officer for Ikano Industry. “Our internal design and development teams have extensive experience, and Ikona allows us to showcase the strength of our vertically integrated manufacturing operations.”
Unlike direct-to-consumer mattress companies, Ikona will focus exclusively on wholesale partnerships. The company said its goal is to work with established retailers, hospitality groups and contract customers while leveraging its large-scale manufacturing infrastructure.
“We are focused on growing together with retail and hospitality partners,” Galasso said. “Our factories are designed for high-volume production, and we want to support businesses looking for reliable mattress solutions.”
The initial Ikona portfolio includes three collections: Solara, Térrava and Borealis. Each collection offers different comfort options and price tiers, with Solara serving as the entry-level offering starting at $799 for a queen-size mattress. Térrava begins at $1,199, while Borealis starts at $1,499 in queen size.
Production will primarily take place at Ikano Industry’s manufacturing facility in Mexico, with additional capabilities in the United States and Europe. The company said its diversified production network gives partners greater flexibility as global sourcing conditions continue to change.
“We want customers to have confidence in supply and pricing,” Galasso said. “Our manufacturing footprint allows us to remain competitive while responding to changing market conditions.”
Founded by the family of IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad, Ikano Group has operated independently for decades while maintaining a strong relationship with IKEA as a key customer. The company said it is now investing in broader growth opportunities by bringing its manufacturing knowledge and innovation to a wider customer base.

Sustainability is a major focus of the Ikona brand. One of its key technologies is RePoliol, a chemical recycling process that converts polyurethane foam waste back into its original polyol components for reuse in new foam production.
Unlike conventional recycling methods that often reduce material quality, RePoliol allows foam materials to remain part of the mattress manufacturing cycle while helping reduce waste sent to landfills.
Ikano Industry has been using the technology since 2013, incorporating recycled foam solutions into many of its products. In addition, Ikona mattresses feature recycled steel coils, bamboo-based fabrics and internally recycled fiber materials.
Along with environmental initiatives, the brand is highlighting advanced sleep technologies. Its IkoMapping support system uses multiple ergonomic zones designed to enhance pressure distribution and promote proper spinal support. The premium Borealis collection includes IkoHarmony technology, allowing each side of the mattress to provide a different comfort experience.
Galasso said Ikona is designed for younger consumers, including Millennials and Gen X shoppers, who increasingly view sleep as an important factor in productivity, wellness and daily performance.
“The way people think about sleep is changing,” she said. “Consumers are looking for products that help them perform better in every aspect of life, and we believe mattresses should support that broader wellness goal.”
The company said its vertically integrated approach provides another advantage by allowing it to manufacture many key components internally, including proprietary foam formulations. This model helps Ikano Industry maintain product consistency while offering competitive pricing.
Ikano Industry reported producing more than 3.5 million mattresses in 2025 across facilities in Europe, Mexico and the United States, serving customers in 17 international markets.
The company plans to showcase Ikona at the winter Las Vegas Market in January 2027 and is developing a dedicated showroom near its manufacturing campus in Mexico.
