This fall, Hickory Chair will debut an exclusive collection of fabrics from Liberty Design House at the High Point Market, marking a major milestone in the celebration of Liberty’s 150th anniversary.
The renowned British design house Liberty has created 11 bespoke colorways of its iconic fabrics, specially crafted for Hickory Chair. Federico Contigiani, president of Hickory Chair, worked closely with Liberty’s in-house archivist and design teams to explore the extensive Liberty archives. From there, he handpicked distinguished patterns to form the collection, pairing each design with a complementary velvet or linen fabric from Liberty. The color palette for each pattern was carefully chosen to harmonize with Hickory Chair’s existing textile offerings.

“It has been a true honor to partner with Liberty,” said Contigiani. “We believe this exquisite collection of bespoke Liberty fabrics complements both our current textile range and our diverse furniture collection beautifully.”
Among the standout designs in the collection are:
Lady Kristina: A series of hand-painted artworks from the 1920s and 30s featuring elegant rose, tulip, and blossom bouquets.
Floating Pavilion: Inspired by traditional Chinese wallpaper from the 17th and 18th centuries, this design showcases oversized lotus flowers, pavilions, floating sampans, and birds in flight.
Butterfield Velvet: A playful poppy pattern drawn from early 20th-century artwork by Lindsay Butterfield, one of Liberty’s key Arts & Crafts designers.
Faria Flowers Velvet: A large-scale hand-drawn and hand-painted floral design inspired by the gardens of Royal Chelsea and Hampton Court.
Sambourne Stripe: A linen print available in two colorways, influenced by intricate floral motifs found in early 1900s decorative shawls.
Lutea: A floral geometric linen fabric in two colorways inspired by the lily-pad motif.
Porcelain Trail: A floral linen print featuring winding branches, flowers, and finely drawn chrysanthemums, inspired by hand-painted furnishings.
Lotus Garden: A tranquil design layered with Asian-inspired motifs, irises, peonies, and chrysanthemums, with kingfishers watching over the peaceful waters.
The collection features a unique mix of archival Liberty prints and contemporary designs drawn from Liberty’s vast archive, which includes over 60,000 pattern books, paintings, and drawings dating back to the 1880s.
Hickory Chair, a subsidiary of the Rock House Farm Family of Brands, will showcase the new collection at its High Point showroom located at 200 N. Hamilton, space 300.
