ATLANTA — Havertys, a Top 100 retailer, has appointed Brendan McGill as senior vice president and general counsel, effective April 1. He succeeds Janet Taylor, who is retiring after a 20-year tenure with the company.
McGill joins Havertys from Greystar Real Estate Partners, where he served as senior managing director of corporate legal. His career includes roles as chief legal officer at Sylvan Road Capital and senior leadership positions at Invesco Ltd., focusing on business strategy, corporate development, and legal counsel at Mohawk Industries and Alston & Bird LLP.
A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law (Juris Doctor) and Duke University (Bachelor of Arts in Political Science), McGill will report to Steven G. Burdette, Havertys’ president and CEO.
Burdette praised McGill’s expertise in corporate governance, M&A, regulatory compliance, and global investment management, stating, “His proven track record of supporting business expansion across diverse industries and markets aligns perfectly with our vision.”
Taylor, who joined Havertys in 2005 as vice president of law, previously spent 12 years at King & Spalding in its mergers and acquisitions practice group.
“Janet’s expertise was instrumental in guiding our company through numerous significant transactions and strategic initiatives,” Burdette said. “We wish her well in retirement.”
