ACTON, Mass. — Longstanding New England home furnishings retailer Circle Furniture has ceased operations, closing every showroom and dismissing its workforce.
According to information posted on the company’s website, all Circle Furniture locations are currently shut with no announced reopening plans. The Boston Globe reported that employees were first notified of the closures through a companywide email on Dec. 19, followed by another message on Dec. 23 confirming that all positions were being eliminated.

In the layoff notice shared with the Globe, the company cited financial challenges as the reason for the decision, stating that it could no longer sustain operations and that all employees were terminated effective Dec. 23.
Circle Furniture was founded in the early 1950s by the Tubman family in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After being acquired by Bob Richard in the early 2020s, the retailer expanded to a total of nine locations across Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Its newest showroom, located on Cape Cod, opened as recently as May.
