FORT MILL, S.C. — Top 100 retailer Broad River Retail will open an Ashley 7.0 store in Orangeburg, S.C., in time for Black Friday.

Broad River Reveals Plans for Its 40th Store in South Carolina
The Fort Mill, S.C.-based retailer, which owns and operates Ashley stores in the Carolinas, northeast Georgia, the Pacific Northwest and Maine, purchased a former ACE Hardware location near the Orangeburg Mall. When open, it will push Broad River‘s store count into the 40s. The store, at more than 26,000 square feet, is located at 1700 Boulevard St.
Orangeburg is part of the Columbia DMA and is also close to Aiken, S.C., and Augusta, Ga., where Broad River has a presence.
“It‘s a market we‘re already servicing. We already go to Orangeburg, but there‘s very little cannibalization,” CEO Charlie Malouf said. “It‘s another spoke on the wheel we‘ve created and helps us grow in our South region, which is Columbia and Augusta.”
President Manny Rodrigues said the location, which will be built out to Ashley‘s 7.0 specifications, will include a state-of-the-art sleep shop as part of its configuration.
He noted the move aligns with Broad River‘s internal and in-market growth strategies.
“We‘re looking for ways to grow in our current markets where we can delight our current customers and show our internal Memory Makers opportunities to grow,”Rodrigues said.
Malouf said as Broad River continues to expand, samll towns such as Orangeburg are very much part of the plan.
