Behr Paint selects earthy olive hue as 2027 Color of the Year

SANTA ANA, Calif. — Behr Paint Company has selected Grounded (T27-01), an earthy olive green, as its 2027 Color of the Year. The company describes the shade as a natural blend of olive and moss, with subtle brown undertones that add warmth and bring an outdoor-inspired feel indoors.

Grounded leads Behr’s 2027 Color Trends Palette, which includes complementary shades ranging from warm neutrals and earthy colors to muted pinks, clay tones and light blues. The collection also brings back seven legacy colors: Coastal Beige, Wheat Grass, Environmental, Denim Light, Smokey Claret, Sarsaparilla and Mozart.

The selection reflects growing interest in creating homes that provide a stronger connection to nature. The company cited research showing that 77% of Americans turn to nature when life feels chaotic.

“Grounded is a reminder that the most meaningful spaces are the ones that help us connect with the rhythms of everyday life,” said Kayla Kratz, head of color at Behr. “The shade’s organic warmth creates a sense of calm and renewal, making every room feel inviting and effortlessly livable.”

The 2027 selection also marks the 10th anniversary of Behr Paint’s Color of the Year program. The company said the initiative has expanded beyond predicting color trends to exploring how color can influence the way people live, work and experience their spaces.

As part of the anniversary, Behr Paint will donate $250,000 to Habitat for Humanity to support its affordable homeownership programs, including construction materials and other needs.
