In response to pressing community needs, Hooker Furniture often opts to donate products instead of returning them to the factory. This recent donation helped The Furniture Bank provide much-needed furniture to families facing poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and other challenging situations.

Cameron Sellers, vice president of marketing for Hooker Furniture, shared, “Our mission goes beyond just creating beautiful spaces; it’s about supporting thriving communities. Working alongside our retail partners to help those in need is a natural extension of what we do. This donation reflects our ongoing commitment to making a meaningful impact with those who make a difference every day.”
Matt Keepers, a local representative for Hooker Furniture, added, “Hooker was founded with the generosity of Martinsville, VA, and its people. Over 100 years later, we continue to give back, and our collaboration with Star Furniture to support the Houston community through The Furniture Bank is a reflection of that spirit.”
Through this collaboration, Star Furniture and The Furniture Bank ensure donated furniture is either directly given to families or sold through The Furniture Bank’s outlet, where it’s upcycled and made affordable for those in need. Proceeds from the sales help fund the nonprofit’s work in Houston.
Oli Mohammed, executive director of The Furniture Bank, expressed his gratitude: “Thanks to community-focused partners like Hooker Furniture, we’ve been able to assist over 30,000 families and recycle more than 120,000 mattresses over the past three decades.”
