Meet&CoFARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — While it‘s closing two of its showrooms in the Detroit community, leadership from Gorman’s Home Furnishing & Interior Design remains committed to serving the market.

The Farmington Hills, Mich.-based retailer announced that it is closing its showroom in Troy and Southfield, while focusing its attention on its store in Novi and its clearance center and warehouse in Farmington Hills.
“This seems to be the strongest way for us to consolidate strategically to continue serving the business,”CEO Jonathan Moray said.“The Novi showroom made the most sense to keep among Gorman‘s three main stores, which is in a great furniture retail area in the northwest Detroit suburbs. It‘s the largest, at around 50,000 square feet, and can best showcase the full breadth of offerings.”
The Troy and Southfield showrooms are each between 20,000 square feet and 30,000 square feet, so they didn‘t have the necessary space.
“It‘s very important for us to continue and proceed along and that everybody gets their furniture and things go well,” Moray said.“We thought about it for a while. Clearly, furniture has been tough for people, especially in our segment. We thought this was the best way to move forward and best serve the metro area.”
“It‘s a good retail corridor, and it‘s become a magnet for furniture stores. There‘s a Bob‘s Discount and Gardner White,”he said, noting that the area had also supported stores from Value City Furniture and Art Van Furniture in the past.
Moray wanted to make it clear that Gorman‘s remains committed to the market, its vendors and its employees.
