I’m not sure if my chair “fits” me or if I’ve just gotten used to it. What are the quick checks to see if a chair is actually the right size?
Run through these five quick tests.
| Test | What to Check | Pass Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Feet flat | Sit normally – feet touch floor? | Yes, with knees at 90° |
| 2-3 finger gap | Behind knee to seat edge | Fingers fit snugly, not tight |
| Shoulder clearance | Backrest width | Shoulders not squeezed or floating |
| Lumbar contact | Lower back | Feels support, not a gap or poke |
| Armrest height | Elbows at 90° | Forearms parallel to floor |
If you fail any test: Look for an office chair with more adjustability (seat depth, height range, armrests) or a different size (many brands offer A/B/C sizes).
