We want to cluster several office pods in one area. Can we put them face-to-face, or does each need clearance around it?
You need clearance, but the amount depends on door type and pod design.
| Door Type | Minimum Clearance Needed |
|---|---|
| Sliding door | 12-18 inches – just enough to enter |
| Hinged door (outward) | 36-48 inches – full door swing |
| Hinged door (inward) | 24-30 inches – room to back out |
| Curtain entry | 12 inches – no swing needed |
Facing pods tips:
Leave 30-36 inches between facing pod doors so two people don't collide
Stagger entries (don't align door-to-door)
Use sliding doors for tight clusters
Consider a small "airlock" corridor if placing 4+ pods back-to-back
