HICKORY, N.C. — Sherrill Furniture, known for its high-end furniture designs, is introducing “Life Happens,” a new showroom concept at the High Point Market that highlights the latest innovations in performance fabrics for everyday living.
Located on the first floor of Sherrill’s showroom, the installation creates a curated lifestyle setting where design, comfort, and practicality seamlessly intersect.
The concept features 15 new performance fabrics with vibrant colors and patterns, sourced from top mills. These textiles are grouped into three key categories: inherently performance, machine washable, and bleach-cleanable, showcasing a variety of advanced material technologies.

“‘Life Happens’ was inspired by a real-life challenge: designing a home that is both beautiful and practical,” said Gabrielle Davis, director of creative operations. “Families face the wear and tear of daily life, from kids to pets, and we wanted to close the gap between elevated design and true livability.”
Through collaborations with leading textile brands such as Crypton, Sunbrella, Valdese, Merrimac, Kravet, and Rothschild, Sherrill offers fabrics that combine sophisticated style with exceptional durability.
Davis added, “This concept goes beyond performance fabrics. By pairing them with our most trusted upholstery frames, we created an immersive and educational showroom experience that demonstrates both style and functionality.”
The initiative emphasizes cutting-edge fabric technologies including solution-dyed fibers, PFAS-free finishes, inherent stain resistance, and bleach-cleanable constructions. Sunbrella and Crypton set the benchmark for long-lasting durability, while Valdese’s Inside Out and Sustain collections provide design-focused, sustainable performance solutions.
The “Life Happens” installation is on display at Sherrill Furniture Brands’ showroom, 315 Fred Alexander Place, during the High Point Market.
