Meet&CoNEW YORK — Contemporary DTC furniture brand Castlery is set to open its first U.S. flagship showroom in New York City on May 15, marking the culmination of a seven-year search for the right location.
The 3,000-square-foot store at 120 W. 18th St. in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood represents a significant commitment to the American market. Co-founders Declain Ee and Fred Ji began searching for a New York location in 2018, resuming their efforts after the pandemic and reviewing more than 200 listings before securing the space on a 10-year lease.
Ee explained that the extended search process helped clarify what the brand truly sought—not just in layout, but in feeling. He noted that when they discovered the Chelsea space, it aligned with their vision, reflecting the brand’s identity.
Located in the historic Ladies’ Mile district, the showroom blends East-West influences, combining soft ceiling treatments and rattan accents with classic New York architecture. The space will feature 17 curated room sets showcasing living, dining, and bedroom furniture, alongside complimentary interior styling consultations for space planning and furniture selection.
Ee emphasized that New York demands commitment, not testing. He stated that opening the first U.S. store here reflects the brand’s dedication to American customers and its craft—prioritizing doing it right over doing it fast.
The May 15 opening will kick off a weekend-long celebration through May 17, featuring in-store activities and limited-edition goodie bags. Founded in Singapore in 2013, Castlery operates showrooms in Singapore, Brisbane, Sydney, and serves customers in the United Kingdom and Canada.
