- Sand the cabinet: To thoroughly remove old paint layers and grease from the metal surface, sand the cabinet with sandpaper of varying grits (220 or 320 grit) until smooth. After sanding, cover the cabinet surface with a dust cloth before proceeding to spray painting.
- Apply Primer: Using spray primer or a roller, apply 2-3 thin, even coats of primer, allowing each coat to dry completely between applications.
- Spray Paint: Once the primer is fully dry, use a light, even spray technique to cover the entire metal surface. This helps prevent rust. Typically, 3-6 coats are required, but avoid applying too much paint at once to prevent drips.
- Allow paint to dry: After 24-48 hours of drying time, reassemble drawers, handles, and hardware components to their original positions.
