ANDOVER, Mass. — Herb Kahan, the visionary founder and CEO of Regal Fabrics, passed away on December 2 at the age of 91. With a career spanning nearly seven decades, Kahan was renowned for his boundless energy, enthusiasm, and the warm smile that accompanied his natural ability to engage with anyone, anywhere.
Born on February 1, 1934, Kahan began his journey in the fabric industry after serving in the Army. Shortly after, he married Arlene, his wife of 60 years. The couple spent over 30 years honing their expertise in the fabric business before launching Regal Fabrics in 1987, a venture that quickly became a success. They were soon joined by their children, Steven and Ronda, who continue to oversee the company with their children, Scott and Andy.
Kahan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Arlene. He leaves behind two children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Temple Emanuel in Andover, Mass., at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 7. Kahan will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery in Peabody, Mass.
