BOSTON – Wayfair is expanding its retail footprint with a new 70,000-square-foot store in Columbus, Ohio, set to open in late 2026. This smaller-format location will serve as a prototype for the company’s evolving retail strategy, offering a more compact shopping experience compared to the larger stores planned for Atlanta, Yonkers, N.Y., and Denver. The upcoming store is half the size of Wayfair’s current two-story, 150,000-square-foot location in Wilmette, Ill.

Liza Lefkowski, Wayfair’s VP of merchandising and stores, highlighted the company’s focus on both expansion and experimentation as part of their retail strategy. She expressed excitement about the new Ohio location and the opportunity to explore how a smaller store can still offer a complete shopping experience while engaging customers in a more efficient way.
The Columbus store will feature a wide range of products, including furniture, mattresses, décor, housewares, and appliances, with many items selected by Wayfair’s experts as part of the Wayfair Verified collection. Customers will also have access to complimentary design services for everything from minor updates to full home refreshes.
The store will serve as a test case for how a smaller footprint can drive customer engagement, while still maintaining the convenience and inspiration that Wayfair is known for. Some products will be available for immediate pickup, while larger items, like sofas and dining sets, will be delivered via Wayfair’s logistics network.
Franz Geiger, managing director of NP Limited, which is behind the Polaris Fashion Place development near the new store, welcomed Wayfair to the area, noting their strong retail reputation and importance to the shopping center’s overall appeal.
