Meet&CoATLANTA — Amid the current high-tariff climate, domestic outdoor manufacturers hold a significant advantage, particularly those that rely on locally sourced materials, like recycled plastic for polylumber.
At the recent Casual Market Atlanta, local manufacturers were not only showcasing their products but also strategically highlighting the sourcing, manufacturing, and logistical benefits that set them apart from imported competitors. For Ohio-based Berlin Gardens, this meant letting the products themselves tell the story.

“We pride ourselves on offering full customization,” said Mark Cliffe, Director of International Sales at Berlin Gardens. “We provide 23 recycled plastic finishes and 11 aluminum finishes. Our recycled polymer is sourced just outside Chicago, and everything is manufactured in Berlin, Ohio, which is a major advantage right now.”
This commitment to flexibility was clear on the showroom floor, where Berlin Gardens presented products designed to blend functionality with current social trends.
“We introduced a 66-inch square dining table that can seat 8 with chairs or up to 12 with benches, which is a key trend right now—fostering conversation and connection,” Cliffe explained. “Our Bristol dining chair collection has also expanded into a glider range, which has been very successful.”
Color plays a pivotal role in Berlin Gardens’ customization strategy. While the brand already offers an extensive range of finishes, it continues to evolve with changing tastes.
“We’ve added new colors like sage, which is gaining popularity. Greens are trending up, while grays are fading. Chocolate browns and blacks are making a strong comeback,” Cliffe added.
Berlin Gardens is also tapping into underserved product categories within the outdoor market.
“We’ve ventured into kids’ furniture, which is unique for us,” Cliffe noted. “We’ve also launched outdoor cabinetry for built-in grills and other lifestyle features, expanding our brand beyond just furniture.”
At the heart of Berlin Gardens’ appeal is its Amish craftsmanship.
“About 95% of our labor is Amish, which means exceptional attention to detail,” Cliffe said. “We build everything with a focus on quality and durability. Our products may be priced higher, but we overbuild to ensure customers get the best experience.”
